People think of a teachers life as super easy. According to them, teaching is a simple job, and a teacher doesn’t have many responsibilities to adhere to. All they have to do is take a few lectures in a day.
And they got the rest of the day for them. Teaching is often referred to as a comfortable occupation where you have to go, sit on a comfortable table and chair. And make the students work hard.
If you are having any of the above misconceptions, then this article will be an opener for you. I am not bluffing. All of my arguments will have strong supportive statements that will help you combat your misconception. So, let’s talk about some hardships that a teacher faces daily.
Waking Up Super Early
Most of the teachers life is, they have their families or stay away from them to live closer to their schools. In both cases, they have to get up super early and can hardly complete their recommended 8-hour sleep.
Plus, besides getting ready and going to school, they have other tasks to perform. Preparing breakfast and lunch for them and, most times, for their families, is one of them. Also, because of this tight morning schedule, they hardly get ample time to exercise or do some yoga.
Which eventually takes a toll on their health in the later years of their life. So, after fixing a tight morning schedule they have to reach school on time. And we all have been to schools and very few of us have ever seen a teacher coming late to school.
Thinking, do they have superpowers? Well, keep reading and you will start believing that they have.
Teachers Life – Working without breaks
Working in an office whenever you feel tired you can go to the cafe and sip your favorite coffee or munch a bite. But a teacher doesn’t enjoy these in-between munching privileges. As soon as they end a class, the other one waits for them.
And somehow if they get a free period either they are posted to another class. Or they just start checking some notebooks from the heaps they get daily.
Working continuously, going to each class with a big smile. Never seem irritated with the number of doubts you ask. Being a teacher is surely uneasy. Teachers are the only being in the world who get happier from the number of queries they get. And you will never see them tired while answering your doubts.
They answer all your doubts with complete enthusiasm and honestly. Also, you will never acknowledge a low energy level from the teacher while taking a class. Their passion keeps them thriving.
Tasks other than teaching
We think the sole responsibility of a teachers life job is teaching its students. Yes, teaching plays a big part in all the responsibilities a teacher has. But surely it isn’t the only one. Let’s talk about some of these responsibilities-
- Maintaining students’ records– A teacher has to maintain a complete record of every student. Their test results. Their performance throughout the year. You can find every educational detail about you with your teacher. And maintaining all this information is never easy.
- Preparing Tests– While you are busy preparing for exams, your teachers are busy making exam papers. Making exam papers only doesn’t end their job. They have to make seating arrangements, set syllabus, make date sheets, and whatnot. Your exams are their exams too.
- Checking work– Remember how you feel free after giving exams? Well, teachers don’t share the same privilege. As soon as the exam ends, they have a tougher job waiting for them. Which includes checking heaps of notebooks, recording your marks, and preparing the last report cards. And as soon as the process ends, they prepare for the new session.
Embracing questions a good example of Teachers life
A good teacher never gets offended when asked multiple questions. They embrace them and share accurate knowledge with their students. Ask repeated questions from anybody and after a few minutes, you will see anger on their faces.
But a teacher is different the more you ask, the brighter smile they will provide. It is not like they don’t get tired but because they love sharing wisdom. They know they are creating the future of the nation. And the future needs to be well informed. You shouldn’t hesitate before asking questions.
Teachers encourage you to ask more, not because they love answering questions. But because they know the role that knowledge plays in building the character of a person.
Being a teacher is certainly a difficult task, but teachers love doing it. They love seeing their students reaching different levels. You must have read stories about how a teacher changed the entire life of her student.
They have the zest to make the world a better place and thus encourage their students for the same. Reaching home tired to core daily, being both mentally and physically drained isn’t easy. But teachers pull it all so seamlessly that you will never see that on your face. Unless someone in your family is a teacher.
Despite doing so much hard work, teachers do not get proper credit. They work on low salaries and have very few holidays. And then people will say they are privileged because they are a teacher and they have very little to do. Yes, being a teacher is a privilege because they get to share their wisdom with others.
Teaching is surely a privileged profession, but not an easy one. And it’s both exhausting and rewarding to be a teacher.
